Discovering sepsis

Saturday 16 March: 10:00am - 5:00pm
Sunday 17 March: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

The Guildhall, Market Square, CB2 3QJ

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition which can affect anyone of any age. The incidence of sepsis is rising, and we are learning more about the body’s response to infection. Come and meet researchers from Public Health England and learn more about the bacteria which cause sepsis. You can make balloon models of bacteria such as E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and add ‘virulence factors’ which cause the damage. We have been working with The Bellbird School, Sawston, and the Sepsis Trust in preparing this exhibit, and will be focussing on recognising the early signs of sepsis, so that prompt treatment can be provided.
