Get personal with your 100 trillion microbiome friends

Saturday 11 March: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Grafton Centre, Grafton Centre Cambridge , CB1 1PS

The significance of the human microbiome is increasingly being recognised in health and disease. Join BSA Cambridge to create your own personal microbiome print and identify the different types.

Our bodies are home to trillions of bacteria. In recent decades we have become increasingly aware of the profound impact that these microorganisms can have in health and disease. This is true not only for humans, but our livestock and crops.

Our genes and our phenotype seem to influence the strains of bacteria present in our microbiome, and in turn they help regulate our immune response and digestive system and other functions.

After attending this event, you should be able to identify a few common strains of skin microbes and begin to speculate on what might influence differences in commensal bacteria between people.
