Maths vs Sport

Thursday 15 March: 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Lady Mitchell Hall, Sidgwick Site Sidgwick Avenue, CB3 9DA

How do you take the perfect penalty kick? Where is the best place in the world to attempt a world record? What is the limit of human endurance? Maths has all of the answers and Dr Tom Crawford (Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics) tells you how you can use it to be better at sports (results may vary!).

Dr Tom Crawford is a tutor at the University of Oxford with a passion for maths communication. Whether it’s stripping back equations on his YouTube channel, explaining the maths of Pokémon in Pokémaths, or telling you the fun facts about numbers that you didn’t realise you’ve secretly always wanted to know with his Funbers series on BBC radio, his mission is to make everyone love maths as much as he does!

You can find all of Tom’s material on his website tomrocksmaths.com and you can follow him on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @tomrocksmaths.
