Tales of being an alien in sport: impairing common sense(s)

Saturday 24 March: 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Anglia Ruskin University, Lord Ashcroft Building, LAB006, East Road, CB1 1PT

Thomas, a deaf athlete and sport student at Anglia Ruskin University, will share his autoethnography and discuss how we could encourage the use of different senses when coaching disabled athletes. Sport is often seen as a great environment for disabled people to feel integrated and to flourish, but our knowledge about coaching and involving athletes with sensory impairment (e.g., blind, deaf) might not be enough to help them from feeling marginalised and negatively impact their well-being. Presented by Anglia Ruskin University.
