Unkindest Cut: Harm and Harmony in Your Head - discussion

Wednesday 13 March: 6:45pm - 7:45pm

Cambridge Junction, Clifton Way, CB1 7GX

Outside it seems to be a shipping container much like any other. Inside though, it’s a fortress of ideas – intimate and intense, alluring but alarming, contained yet spilling over. What has been going on in the shipping container outside Cambridge Junction? Join artist Subathra Subramaniam, clinical psychiatrists Dr Partha Banerjea and Dr Anna Conway-Morris to discuss adolescent mental health and the themes that inspired the work.

Subathra Subramaniam is a choreographer, dancer and educator. She is the artistic director of Sadhana Dance. Suba’s work is unique. Her choreography navigates the confluence of arts and science drawing from her belief that dance can play a part in the public understanding and engagement with scientific concepts. Her work combines contemporary choreography and Bharatanatyam.

Dr Partha Banerjea is a consultant adolescent psychiatrist, running a high-risk, high-impact adolescent service at the Maudsley Hospital in South London. He is lead clinician for Southwark Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, and visiting lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has a keen interest in how to train future psychiatrists and interdisciplinary ideas such as the interface between psychiatry and the arts.
