A knitted brain at the Central Library!

There is a new sculpture in The Grand Arcade today (until 16 March) - a knitted brain!

Founding artist of the award winning Australian community engagement project Neural Knitworks Pat Pillai is in Cambridge for the Cambridge Science Festival. Together with volunteers from the Cambridge community, she has created two wonderful installations at the Central Library and in the Atrium at The Grand Arcade, Cambridge.

Neural Knitworks has partnered with Cambridge Neuroscience and the Science Festival to bring ground-breaking Cambridge neuroscience out into the community, connecting Australian science and UK research.

Neuroscientists have visited local schools, community centres, knitting groups and meet-ups and Pat Pillai has helped participants make over 500 new neurons for the international brain sculptures.

There are opportunities to meet Pat Pillai, learn to make a woolly neuron and hear more neuroscience throughout the Festival, including free after-school family-friendly workshops on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Central Library.

Neural Knitworks is at The Grand Arcade, in the Central Library and at events throughout the Festival.
