10:15am-11:15am on Saturday 23 March
Babbage Lecture Theatre, (Through the Pembroke Archway), New Museums Site Downing Street, CB2 3RS
Join children’s author Cindy Forde and Dr Irving Huerta, and take a space-time machine to re-imagine our future together.
What kind of world do we want to live in? What is the future our hearts know is possible? Have we come together to fight climate change, pollution, inequality? Have we restored our coral reefs? Do we have cars that run on sunlight, factories that clear the air instead of polluting it, rainforest spreading out once again across the Amazon?
In this workshop we travel across time and space. From there, we look back at today and ask the following questions: What needs to be done now, immediately to get to this future? What if we changed the things causing the problems into solutions, energy, food, transport etc.. what would kinds of transformation would that create? How do we need to change as people? As community members? As citizens, schools? What tools do we have in our today tool kit to be part of building this world?
Participants are invited to take some time to share their ideas in a robust Q&A, creating a map of collaborative solutions and evoking lively conversation around how can we develop the mindset of adaptation and innovation and how we can be part of co-creating the world we want.
Participants then gather something from their Bright New World that they want to take home with them then return to the space-time machine to travel back to the present. On the way we pass a black hole, participants are invited to throw in anything that is holding them back from creating this brighter future and to leave it behind. Returning to Earth empowered and inspired to help be part of building a brighter world.
