LIMITED TICKETS AVAILABLE ON THE DOOR - Pints and puzzles

Monday 11 March: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Thirsty Cambridge, 46 Chesterton Road, CB4 1EN

Enjoy a pub quiz without the annoying competitive aspect. Solve puzzles rather than answer general-knowledge questions - use problem-solving skills instead of fact-hoarding. Join puzzle-mad mathematicians Katie Steckles and Ben Sparks for a brain-teasing selection of mathematical puzzles, with plenty of hints and clues if you get stuck, and some surprising answers along the way.

Katie Steckles is a mathematician based in Manchester, who gives talks and workshops on different areas of maths. She finished her PhD in 2011, and since then has talked about maths in schools, at science festivals, on BBC radio, at music festivals, as part of theatre shows and on the internet. She enjoys doing puzzles, solving the Rubik's cube and baking things shaped like maths.

Ben Sparks works part time with the Advanced Maths Support Programme (AMSP), the University of Bath, and part time as a freelance maths enrichment speaker around the UK and the rest of the world – including the Maths Inspiration project run by Rob Eastaway. He regularly gives talks and workshops to the general public, schools, and conferences on a range of mathematical subjects.
