Matt Hobs BSc (Bristolian of Science)

Wednesday 11 March: 8:45pm - 9:45pm

Cambridge University Centre Wine Bar, Granta Place, CB2 1RU

This stand-up comedy show is about the ups and downs of my career in the world of science.

It’s about what led me into science (the hubris of thinking I could win a Nobel prize) what led me out of science (issues with the aforementioned hubris) and how I’ve finally come to love science.

In the show I use humour to explain scientific techniques we used to study and theorise about proteins and processes we cannot observe, and I explain how an accident in the laboratory, which could have affected my vision, led to me developing OCD.

The show is bought to life with projections that are both scientific and ridiculous. Bristolian of science comes from a successful run at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe, where it was loved by audience members and reviewers alike.

“With Fringe-length stand-up shows, even when I am enjoying myself, there’s a spectre inside me just really excited for it all to end. Matt Hobs made me feel entirely the opposite – I was quite content to simply sit in his company and listen intently yet gently to what he had to say” (Mumble Comedy).

“BSc is a very easy show to enjoy, starring a very likeable leading comic with a talent for multimedia comedy” (Wee Review).
