Some of the team from the Department of Archaeology, the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research and the Cambridge Archaeological Unit will be showcasing the variety of research within archaeology, through a range of hands-on activities across the weekend.
We will have:
* Amazing replica artefacts from the site of Must Farm (Saturday and Sunday).
* A selection of fascinating finds from across the region for you to get up close and personal with (Saturday and Sunday).
* Ceramics from digs in Nigeria (Sunday).
* Casts of skulls of non-human primates and ancient hominins (Saturday and Sunday).
* You will also be able to take part in our ‘Map Stories’ activities by joining our team from Mapping Archaeological Heritage in South Asia (Saturday).
* PhD student Madison Bennett will share techniques about the process of parchment making, and there’ll be opportunities for you to get hands-on using pumice stones to smooth the parchments and then have a go at writing on them, too!
